With improved inspection functionalities, this accurate comparator (model #2028) with a 10x magnification is identical with the #1975 model once you detach the measuring unit.
The achromatic lens, which is made of 3 elements, provides a clear color corrected image. Included is a standard scale of 30 mm length and 0.1 mm division. The large viewing field and its resolution are technically probably the best-adapted values available giving the user a high definition, precise image. A higher light transmission is achieved with the Anti-reflex coating.
The standard scale in picture 2 is included. Many others are available and can be purchased here.

ACHROMAT
Chromatic aberration is caused by a lens having a different refractive index for different wavelengths of light (lens dispersion), meaning that different colors focus at different distances from the lens. Longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberration of a lens can be seen as "fringes" of color around the image.
Chromatic aberration of a single lens causes different wavelengths of light to have differing focal lengths.
An achromatic doublet has the same focal length for red and blue light.
Chromatic aberration can be minimized by using an Achromatic Lens or Achromat, in which special optical materials with differing dispersion are assembled together to form a compound lens.
